Fair, Fast and Secure payments

NWL and Kikapay are piloting a new payment method called KiKa. It’s an easy and secure way to pay by simply using your smartphone and mobile banking app.

A KiKa payment works like a bank transfer and transfers money directly from your bank account to NWL’s bank account. KiKa does everything for you and instead of having to enter your details, all you have to do is scan the QR code. It then shows on your NWL online account the following working day.

Here’s how it works

  • Click on the QR code provided in your letter.
  • Select your bank and your banking app will then open automatically.
  • Logon into your bank app as usual. You’ll see a payment screen with the payment information.
  • Your bank may give you a warning messages and ask you to select why you are making the payment. Select the appropriate option and confirm.
  • Once the payment is complete, your bank will pass you back to KiKa, where you can request proof of payment.
  • Remember to check the payments details at each step.

As this is a new way to pay, we’d love to know what you think. You can do this by sending a quick email to northumbrianKikapayment@nwl.co.uk.

Tips on using QR codes

Most smartphone cameras will now recognise a QR code automatically. If you have an Android smartphone, e.g. Honor or Huawei, you may need to activate this function or select the option on the camera. Older smartphones may need you to download a QR scanning app.

If you’re using an IPhone you will need to click on the message ‘Open “kikapay.com” in Safari’ that will show at the top of your screen.
